Five podiums for Formula Racing in Portugal

Looking back at Round 5 of the Ferrari Challenge Europe, Formula Racing delivered an outstanding weekend in Portugal by securing no fewer than five podium finishes across the four classes. Norwegian newcomer Niklas Abrahamsen made an immediate impact on his Ferrari Challenge debut by claiming back-to-back second-place finishes in Trofeo Pirelli, while Japanese driver Nobuhiro Imada celebrated second and third place in Trofeo Pirelli Am. That’s four Formula Racing podium finishes from the weekend’s two Trofeo Pirelli races alone!

In Coppa Shell, Canadian Eric Cheung continued his strong championship campaign with fourth and fifth-place finishes, while Hong Kong’s Charles Chan produced a superb comeback in Shell Am after finishing eighth in Saturday’s race to fight his way onto the podium with second place in Sunday’s race.

Danish driver Henrik Kamstrup also bounced back well after an early retirement on Saturday by securing seventh in class on Sunday, while Japanese driver Masaru Yoneda overcame a challenging weekend by returning to the finish P11 in Sunday’s race after Saturday’s unfortunate retirement.

The strong results keep Formula Racing firmly in contention across several championships, with Charles Chan remaining second in the Coppa Shell Am standings, Nobuhiro Imada fourth in Trofeo Pirelli Am and Eric Cheung sixth in Coppa Shell.

“It was another fantastic weekend for the team. Securing no fewer than five podium finishes is a great reward for all the hard work put in by our drivers and crew. Niklas had an outstanding debut, Nobuhiro continued his strong form, and Charles showed great determination by fighting back onto the podium on Sunday. We leave Portimão with excellent momentum as we head into the final part of the season,” says Race & Event Executive at Formula, Thor Qualmann.
