Formula Racing back on top in Budapest

Looking back at Round 6 of the Ferrari Challenge Europe, Formula Racing enjoyed another successful weekend by securing no fewer than six podium finishes – including two victories – at the Hungaroring, moving the team into the championship lead ahead of the season finale.

Norwegian talent Niklas Abrahamsen continued his impressive Ferrari Challenge campaign in Trofeo Pirelli. Starting Saturday’s opening race from P2, Abrahamsen fought his way into the lead to claim his first victory in the championship. On Sunday, the young Norwegian was back on the podium with a second-place finish, crossing the line less than a second behind the winner.

There was even more success in Coppa Shell Am, where Henrik Kamstrup and Masaru Yoneda delivered a fantastic Formula Racing 1-2 on Saturday. After qualifying second and third respectively, Kamstrup went on to secure the victory ahead of his Japanese teammate. Charles Chan completed Saturday’s race in P8 before bouncing back strongly on Sunday to claim second place, while Kamstrup and Yoneda finished P7 and P9 respectively.

In Coppa Shell, Canadian Eric Cheung added another trophy to the weekend’s tally with a strong second-place finish on Saturday. Unfortunately, Sunday proved more difficult, with Cheung forced to retire after nine laps after being hit by a competitor.

The strong results in Hungary have also moved Formula Racing into the lead of the team championship ahead of the grand finale in Barcelona in November, putting the team in a strong position to fight for the title when the 2026 Ferrari Challenge Europe season reaches its conclusion.

Niklas continues to impress and did a brilliant job to take his first Ferrari Challenge win, while seeing Henrik and Masaru secure a 1-2 in Shell Am on Saturday was another huge highlight. We had a few setbacks on Sunday, but Charles bounced back with a great podium and Niklas came incredibly close to another victory. Most importantly, these results have put us in the lead of the team championship, so we now have everything to fight for when we head to Barcelona for the finale,” says Race & Event Executive at Formula, Thor Qualmann.
