Formula GT Challenge concluded in style

The fourth and final round of the new Scandinavian GT championship for race cars from Maranello, Formula GT Challenge, took place on September 27–28 under bright sunshine and in front of thousands of motorsport fans. FDM Jyllandsringen provided the setting for the conclusion of the series’ debut season, with an impressive grid of GT cars lining up for the decisive weekend.

There was no doubt about the standout winner of the weekend: Swedish driver Carl Runefelt claimed victory in all three heats, making the Ferrari 296 Challenge driver the outright winner of the finale in the overall Trofeo Pirelli classification. Runefelt was pushed hard by Danish driver Andreas Borris, who secured second place overall, while Lars Rolner finished third in his debut weekend in Formula GT Challenge.

Rolner also featured on the podium in the 488 class, where the Dane claimed overall victory after battling Swedish drivers Christian Appelberg and Peter Hjelte, who finished second and third respectively.

In the class for cars older than the Ferrari 488 Challenge, Danish driver Jesper Bowman took overall victory for the weekend in his 458 Challenge, closely followed by the weekend’s female competitor, 26-year-old Cecilie Nør-Jensen (458 Challenge). Nør-Jensen also secured an impressive trophy in what was her debut weekend. The final podium position went to Sweden’s Thomas Belfrage, who delivered a strong performance in his Ferrari 430 Challenge.

The weather was fantastic, the grandstands were full, and a strong field of energetic drivers turned the fourth and final round into an entertaining event for everyone. Congratulations to the weekend’s winners and to all the other drivers who, together with their teams, delivered an outstanding effort,” says Race Promoter at Formula Automobile, Chresten Hansen.

“We are proud to have brought together such a broad spectrum of drivers for the final round of the season – ranging from mature and experienced profiles with international racing backgrounds to a young talent like Cecilie Nør-Jensen, who normally competes in the Danish junior series, Nordic 4. The series has developed progressively since we started in the spring, and throughout the season we have built up a solid level of experience that we will use to further develop the championship,” he adds.

Chresten Hansen adds that this year’s champions will be announced later in the autumn, when more information will also be released about what drivers and fans of Formula GT Challenge can expect from the 2026 season. About Formula GT Challenge

A new Scandinavian brand championship reserved for both new and older Ferrari GT race cars. It will debut in 2025 with four race rounds spread over three weekends at Ring Knutstorp in Skåne, Sweden, and FDM Jyllandsringen near Silkeborg, Denmark. The season will also begin with a test day. Participants must be at least 18 years old and hold a B-license. The Formula Challenge is promoted by Formula Automobile.
