Formula GT Challenge ready for the biggest motorsport weekend of the year

The Formula GT Challenge got off to a successful start at Sweden’s Ring Knutstorp earlier this spring, where the new Scandinavian one-make championship for race cars from Maranello delivered plenty of action and excitement for both drivers and spectators. Now the battle continues this coming weekend at FDM Jyllandsringen, as the third round takes place as part of Denmark’s biggest motorsport event of the year, Grand Prix Danmark.

A total of 12 drivers from Denmark and Sweden are entered for the weekend, which will feature no fewer than three sprint races at Denmark’s national race circuit. Spectators can look forward to enjoying the roar of models such as the 488 Challenge, as well as the latest additions to Ferrari’s GT line-up from Maranello, including the Ferrari 296 Challenge and 296 GT3.

“After a fantastic premiere for Formula GT Challenge earlier this year, we are very much looking forward to kicking off the second half of the season. Both crews and drivers have been eager to get back on track, and the stage could hardly be better than Grand Prix Danmark, which brings together the biggest series in Danish motorsport and, not least, thousands of passionate spectators,” says Race Coordinator at Formula Automobile, Chresten Hansen.

Formula GT Challenge is promoted by Formula Automobile, the Scandinavian importer and dealer of Ferrari and Maserati. The series has its own dedicated paddock, where all cars are gathered under one large tent, allowing race fans to get up close to the Italian race cars and follow the activities inside the garage.

The third round of the Formula GT Challenge begins with practice on Friday, August 22, while qualifying and three races will take place on Saturday, August 23, and Sunday, August 24. Formula GT Challenge runs alongside the Danish Supercar League, which features top-level series such as TCR Denmark, Super GT Denmark, Special Saloon Car and the junior championship Nordic 4. Tickets can be purchased via the FDM Jyllandsringen website.
