The Formula GT Challenge debuts in 2025

Passion for Ferrari

The new season marks the debut of the Formula GT Challenge—a new Scandinavian GT championship that offers both beginners and experienced drivers the thrill and intensity of racing behind the wheel.

The series is organized by Formula Automobile, the Scandinavian importer and dealer for Ferrari and Maserati. This includes Formula Automobile in Denmark and Norway, as well as Sweden’s Autoropa. With over 15 years of experience in international motorsport through Formula Racing, the group has won multiple driver and team championships in the official Ferrari Challenge series and competed in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Now, with the Formula GT Challenge, the excitement of international motorsport is coming to Scandinavian tracks in an economically accessible format.

“We are thrilled to finally unveil a new motorsport initiative aimed at the many Scandinavian Ferrari enthusiasts dreaming of taking to the track and pursuing their passion. In recent years, we’ve seen growing interest in racing among our customers. With Formula GT Challenge, we enable many privately-owned race cars sitting in garages across Denmark, Sweden, and Norway to come to life,” says Jesper Viskum Schak, Group CEO of Formula Automobile.

Gentleman Racing

Formula GT Challenge is tailored for gentleman drivers. Each event will feature practice sessions, qualifying, and at least two sprint races. All participants will share a paddock tent and hospitality services, fostering a strong sense of community and the special atmosphere that is the DNA of this championship.

“Formula GT Challenge is actually an evolution of a previous championship, Ferrari Challenge Scandinavia, which debuted in 2001 and had an impressive 31 cars on the grid at its 2007 season premiere. We already know that several participants from back then will join the new series,” adds Chresten Hansen, Promoter & Race Coordinator.

Wide range of models

Drivers can compete in a broad spectrum of Ferrari models, ranging from 25-year-old 360 and 550/575 models to the latest 488, 296 Challenge, and GT3 variants. The combination of this diversity and an economically appealing budget makes the series more accessible. Drivers can also share a car with a co-driver, and the unique Coppa Famiglia family championship allows two or more family members to share a car and collaborate to earn points.

“Our ambition is to get as many cars and drivers on the track as possible. Participants can bring their own mechanics and engineers or rely on our experienced technicians to manage the car for the season, so all they need to do is show up at the track with a helmet in hand. With our VIP hospitality and exclusive settings, we also provide excellent opportunities to involve sponsors and partners in an exciting environment where networking and a shared love for Ferrari and motorsport come to life like nowhere else,” concludes Chresten Hansen.
